2007-2008 Drive Results

A Record Breaking Year!

With the public’s help, 298 schools and 94 corporate and community partners joining in the collection efforts, the 2007-2008 Coats for Kids drive ended on January 15, 2008 with a record breaking 68,588 coats collected. In its 13 year history, Coats for Kids has collected, cleaned and distributed a total of 497,708 warm winter coats to those in need throughout New England.

Our Promotional Partners, FOX25, Jordan’s Furniture, Community Newspaper Company, Comcast Spotlight, & WROR 105.7 along with our Distribution, Supporting and Corporate Partners played an instrumental role in the success of this year’s drive.

Along with our long-term distribution partners, MASSCAP, Salvation Army and Cradles to Crayons our distribution channels were expanded this year to include The Lowell Wish Project, Father Bill’s & Mainspring, Middlesex Human Service Agency, Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, Wellesley Housing Authority, Mental Health Association of Greater Lowell, His Mercy Ministry, Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore, Mary Eliza Mahoney House, Bread & Jams Shelter, Cradles to Crayons, The Community Giving Tree, and Boston University Medical Center: Outreach Van Project among others.

Applause for School Rewards™ winners from the 2007-2008 Coat Drive!

All participating elementary and middle schools competed for school furnishings and special events. To level the playing field for schools of all sizes, winners are chosen on the basis of the number of coats collected per students enrolled.

We salute the 2007-2008 winners!


Elementary Schools

1st Place

Hospital School, Canton, MA.
The school receives $1200 worth of furnishings from Jordan’s Furniture; a visit by one of the FOX25 meteorologists; a $250 cash prize and the student body will enjoy a make-your-own-sundae party.

2nd Place

Academy Avenue Elementary School, Weymouth, MA.
The school receives a $500 cash prize; and the students will be given a pizza party.

3rd Place

Robin Hood Elementary School, Stoneham, MA.
The school receives a $250 cash prize and the teachers receive a $500 school supply gift certificate.


Middle Schools

1st Place

Watertown Middle School, Watertown, MA.
The school receives $1200 worth of furnishings from Jordan’s Furniture; a private movie screening at Jordan’s Furniture IMAX theatre; a $250 cash prize and the student body will enjoy a make-your-own-sundae party.

2nd Place

Broad Meadows Middle School, Quincy, MA.
The school receives a $500 cash prize and the students will be given a pizza party.

3rd Place

Wynn Middle School, Tewksbury, MA.
The school receives a $250 cash prize and the teachers receive a $500 school supply gift certificate.
