{"id":323,"date":"2010-10-06T00:06:41","date_gmt":"2010-10-06T00:06:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/antons.com\/cfk\/?p=323"},"modified":"2013-02-09T06:49:14","modified_gmt":"2013-02-09T06:49:14","slug":"antons-cleaners-coat-drive-begins-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/antons.com\/cfk\/press-events\/press\/antons-cleaners-coat-drive-begins-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"Anton\u2019s Cleaners&#8217; coat drive begins Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With four children between ages 7 and 14, the Kelley family is always buying new coats before winter.<\/p>\n<p>But, rather than throw out gently-used jackets that no longer fit, the family donates them to those in need through an annual program run by Anton\u2019s Cleaners at Ralph Talbot Elementary School in Weymouth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a win-win for everyone involved,\u201d said mother Jennifer Kelley, who serves on the school\u2019s parent council. \u201cParents get to clean out their closets and the children get to learn the benefits of donating to a charity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Talbot school is one of more than 100 schools participating in Anton\u2019s Cleaners&#8217; 16th annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antons.com\/cfk\/\">Coats for Kids<\/a> drive.<\/p>\n<p>The Tewksbury-based cleaners hope to collect 60,000 coats this year, a far cry from the 2,000 they received in their first year, said Arthur C. Anton, Jr., the cleaner\u2019s chief operating officer.<\/p>\n<p>The coats are cleaned and distributed to social service agencies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know a lot of people have several coats that they haven\u2019t worn in two years,\u201d Anton said. \u201cIf you haven\u2019t worn it for two years, there are people that need it more than your closet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program accepts children\u2019s or adult coats. Beginning Monday, items can be dropped off at any Anton\u2019s Cleaners or Jordan\u2019s Furniture location.<\/p>\n<p>Anton\u2019s Cleaners has stores in Braintree, Brockton, Canton, Easton, Marshfield and Stoughton.<\/p>\n<p>The program ends Jan. 8.
